Abstract:
Dendrological collection of Lithuania should be systematically investigated, as the successful introduction and acclimatization assumption, to be formulating the optimal assortment for natural conditions of Lithuania. Explore the dendrological collection of J. Vaidelio, to systematic and decorativeness aspects, we found that: 1. Inthis dendrological collection is mainly grown the Magnoliophyta plants, belonging to 40 botanical families, of which the most abundant Rosaceae (30 taxa) and Ericaceae (21 taxa) plant family. Pynophyta plant types represented by four botanical family of plants, from which the most abundant taxa – Cupressaceae family (49 taxa). In total, this collection recorded 239 taxa of plants. 2. Incollection grew of mostly low–growing plants (1–10 min height) – 56 per cent. At least – of medium height (11–20 min height) of plant taxa. 3. Found a large variety of woody plants in the form of crown. Most woody plants found with hemispherical (17.8 percent.), egg–scaped (13.5 percent)., conical and stand– bough (now 12.0 percent.), salt– bough (10.8 percent). Crown forms of diversity is a positive force for the creation of homestead plantations contrasts and accents (the crown as many as 14 different forms). 4. Estimated leaf and needles color. Dominated by green leaves (needles), even 72.6 percent. Many of which are yellow (8.6 percent) and red (8.3 percent). 5. The evaluation of flowers (inflorescences) the color of the dendrological collection of homestead of J. Vaidelio, we find, that mostly flowering white flowers (29.9 percent). To a lesser extent – the yellow and red flowers (to 26.4 percent).

Transplant age is very important for optimal seedling growth. Research was pursued in 2010–2014. It was found that fast growing species of walnuts (Juglans cordiformis and Juglans mandshurica) with open roots worth transplanting 1–2 years of age, slower growing species of walnuts (Juglans nigra, Juglans regia and Juglans cinerea) – 2–3 years of age. Then transplanting plants experiencing the lowest stress – their growth in height and diameter are less influenced. During the late transplantation of fast growing species of walnuts, their promotes greater growth of lateral sprout, then seedling care becomes more expensive.

Abstract:
Softwares becomes very important for woody plants research every day, because accelerates and facilitates data collection and analysis. It’s very important to choose the most suitable software for leaf morphological research. Leaf area of Quercus robur, Betula pendula, Acer platanoides and Tilia cordata were assessed by these softwares: Black Spot, Compu Eye, ImageJ and Lamina (leaf collected in autumn). The research showed that there is no universal software. Some software are better for one tree species, some for other tree species. The similar results showed data of leaf area of Quercus robur, Betula pendula, and Tilia cordata. The results of leaf area of Acer platanoides are more contradictory.

Abstract:
In Lithuania there are no historical parks, which have the exceptional dendrological value and are related to our society or to culturally meritorious persons. However, the ObelynÄ— park should be granted the historical park status as it demonstrates and reveals the past activity of the most honoured scientist and academician in Lithuania, T. Ivanauskas. The ObelynÄ— park is his dendrological and cultural heritage to other generations. The aim of the research was to evaluate the dendrological values and condition of the southern part of the park. Tasks were as follows: * Select growing trees planted by T. Ivanauskas himself or by other people under his guidance; * Make an inventory of woody plants; * Assess the condition of woody plants. Research based on analysis of literature about historical facts of the past management in the ObelynÄ— park was made. The following dendrometrical data were collected in the field: measurements of tree heights, girth and evaluation of state. The data of tree species (receiving history and significance for alien species) that were planted by T. Ivanauskas were collected. The results reveal dendrometrical indicators of the most valuable trees. According to the information, some of tree species from the southern part were the first ones planted in Lithuania and are considered to be rare. The southern part of the park is the most authentic, almost the same as it was created by prof. T. Ivanauskas before World War II. The southern part of the ObelynÄ— dendroflora consists of 48% scrubs and 52% sprouts. Most plants are Crataegus monogyna - 94 pcs. Pinophyta consists of 13 plant taxa belonging to 8 genuses and 3 families. Magnoliophyta has 80 plant taxa belonging to 44 genuses and 22 families. Magnoliophyta plants are abundantly represented by Rosaceae family - 17 plant taxa. Pinophyta and Magnoliophyta taxa are dominated by naturally occurring plants: species, forms, cultivars. In the southern part of ObelynÄ— 27 pcs of plants are in good condition, and 25 units are in satisfactory condition. There are not many bad condition plants, dominated by Magnoliophyta. Deadwoods are 33 pcs, mostly Pinophyta.

Abstract:
The grow season length of native species is a good indicator of the changing environment, especially in urban green spaces. The aim was to determine the length of the grow season for native tree species in different types of green spaces. Tree vegetation was observed in Kaunas city green spaces and peri-urban forests in 2013–2015. It was found that types of green spaces less affected the grow season length of pedanculate oak (Quercus robur L.). The differences of the oak vegetation duration between the types of green spaces were not significant for all three research years. The types of green spaces more affected the grow season length of Norway maple (Acer platanoides L.), smallleaved lime (Tilia cordata Mill.) and silver birch (Betula pendula Roth). The growth duration (for maple 6–12 days, for lime 10–15 days and for birch 5–9 days) was longer in broad street greeneries than in peri-urban forests. All differences of the growth duration between peri-urban forests and broad street greeneries were statistically significant. Pedanculate oak from peri-urban forests had the longest vegetation in 2013, while the vegetation of small-leaved lime from street greeneries was shortest in 2015. Pedanculate oak is the most suitable tree species to grow in urban parks and street greeneries because it has the longest grow season. Small-leaved lime is the least suitable tree species to grow in urban parks and street greeneries because it has the shortest grow season, especially in street greeneries.
